Who is Ben Hermans?

Ben Hermans practices law in the fields of dispute resolution (including arbitration), intellectual property and information technology (ICT) law, commercial law and competition law and has extensive experience in the venture capital & private equity sector. He represents and advises both Belgian and multinational corporations and investment funds.

Ben Hermans has a law degree (Antwerp University, 1994). He was awarded a Master’s degree in International Relations (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, 1995) and in International and European Law (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 1996). In 1999, he was awarded a Master of Law (LL.M) at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven with a specialization in EU law. In 2006 he attended a postgraduate Master course on Intellectual Rights (Katholieke Universiteit Brussels, 2006). Before joining the Monard Law law firm in 2003, he worked as a parliamentary aid to former European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht and acted as an independent adviser to various Belgian and foreign technology companies and investment funds (1997-2003).

Ben Hermans speaks regularly on matters related to intellectual property, information technology (ICT) and biotech. He is recommended by the Legal 500 EMEA edition for dispute resolution (including arbitration) and intellectual property. He is a member of CEPANI, the leading Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation and of the Brussels bar.
